Scottish four-piece Retro Video Club follow up their explosive return to the stage with their latest single ‘Cloud Nine’. The new material from the Edinburgh band is the second single taken from a bigger physique of labor which is to be revealed later this year. Set around the idea of, “everything you want to say to someone you don’t speak to,” the new track somes with nostalgia of people from the past.

Speaking about the track, lead singer Liam Allison said: “We’re just freer and the songs are more interesting because of it. I’ve always stressed we just write pop songs and just dress them up as an indie rock outfit.”

As a track that is begging to be played at festivals, ‘Cloud Nine’ has all the ingredients of a modern day indie anthem and signals a new era for the band where they are raring to get back out there.

Allison’s powerful vocals are supported by a euphoric synth hook which both lead the way for classic electric guitar and bass hooks. These aspects of the track, combined with Kieran Burt’s commanding yet relentless hammering drum beats, create the perfect mixture of a track destined to be played throughout stadiums.

Ready with a series of brand new tour dates later this year and a larger body of work to follow within the next 12 months, it seems like the band are off to a great start in catapulting their career further. Having risen from selling out hometown shows to filling 1000 capacity venues in just a few months, it will be exciting to see where Retro Video Club end up next.
