Single Review: The Receivers - Only Human

Yorkshire band, The Receivers, have just released their new single ‘Only Human’ - an energetic, dashing, and perfect example of modern indie rock, complete with fuzzed-up guitar riffs and sing-along choruses.

The lyrics reflect lead singer Nick Aldous desire to be more confident and to stop comparing himself to others. The lyric, “I don’t want to be myself, but I don’t want to be anyone else”, illustrates his enigmatic songwriting. Aldous explained that he has “always felt a bit like putting on an act when (he is) on stage and (he)’d rather just be (himself) about it.”

From the opening distorted guitar to the inspiring self-belief lyrics, passing through the swaggering musical attitude, ‘Only Human’ is a late summer anthem and demonstrates exactly why The Receivers are becoming one of the most talked about bands in Yorkshire.
